Air Compressor Troubleshooting

Air compressors are delicate machines that could last for a long time with the proper use and of course, proper maintenance of the equipment. They are such great help especially in our homes such as keeping our car tires at the right pressure, as well as in using our nail guns, spray paints and much more. When it comes to the industry, air compressors play a bigger role. Machine shops, manufacturing plants and other industries need large air compressors to make their production possible. With the wide usage of equipment, it is such a pain to use a broken one.

First of all, we must know the basics of air compressors. They can be classified into four depending on their function and these are the piston or reciprocating air compressor, rotary screw compressor, rotary compressor, and a centrifugal compressor. Each type has a different way of how the air is compressed. For example, the centrifugal machine uses speed to increase its air pressure while rotary screw tools compress the air between the two screws to increase the pressure. Knowing this basic knowledge makes it easier for you to decide the right machine for the right job.

Even though different machines worked differently, remember that they experience the most basic problems such as oil leaks, air leaks in tank and fitting, excessive air pressure and electrical or wiring malfunction. Each problem should be addressed properly to avoid further damage to the machine. Before jumping into conclusion, read the manual first because it might have proper guidelines in fixing these types of problems.

Aside from knowing the common problems of an air pressure, we should also know the basic parts of an air compressor. Always remember that even though air tools last for a long time, each part should be replaced over time. There are a lot of online shops or machine shops wherein you can buy good quality parts but won’t cost too much. Just be careful in buying these parts especially if you are not going to buy from the original manufacturer. Always make sure that you will buy the part that you really need. Some shops accept returns for 14 to 30 days, especially for online stores.

Nowadays, such equipment is a big help in our lives, whether it will be at home, in the industry, manufacturing or other means. It is quite costly so, it won’t be convenient to buy another one. Having a know-how in handling these problems is a great way to save time and money. Aside from that, knowing the basics of your equipment gives you a jump start in addressing the problems carefully.

Always remember that air compressors can be classified in four, they might function differently but could experience the same problems. Know your machine very well from its inside to outside. In that case, you will know how to solve the problems. Remember that machines could also experience fatigue like humans if it was overused. So, make sure to take care of it to make it last for a lifetime.
